Ramsgate Vet, Your Vet near Monterey
Vet clinic on your doorstep. Walk or drive to 231 Rocky Point Rd in under 5 minutes. In-house diagnostics, experienced vets, open till 7pm weekdays.

Most Monterey residents can walk to the beach in five minutes. The Grand Parade runs through the middle, lined with Mediterranean-style homes built when this stretch of Botany Bay was still quiet. Dogs walk along the foreshore at sunrise. Cats watch the water from first-floor balconies.
The rhythm is reliable until it isn't: the dog who always bounds ahead suddenly slows down, the cat who grooms twice a day stops bothering, they're drinking more water or refusing food, or they're just off.
Ramsgate Veterinary Hospital is less than 1km from central Monterey, about 5 minutes by car or a 10-minute walk along Rocky Point Road. The clinic has been at 231 Rocky Point Rd for decades. The current team runs it as a full-service hospital with diagnostic imaging, surgical theatres, and the kind of vet continuity that makes managing long-term conditions simpler.
What Ramsgate Vet brings to Monterey pet owners
You can walk here
The clinic is less than 1km from the heart of Monterey. Walk your dog to the appointment, or carry your cat in a carrier without needing to drive across suburbs. For Monterey's elderly residents and those without cars, proximity matters. This isn't a 20-minute drive across traffic, it's a short walk or a brief trip on the 478 bus.Full diagnostics without referral delays
X-rays, ultrasounds, and blood work happen on-site. When your vet needs imaging to work out what's wrong, they book the machine for later that day or the next morning. Results come back within hours. There's no waiting days for an external lab report or driving to another clinic for scans. The turnaround is fast because everything runs under the same roof.Surgical capability for routine and complex procedures
Desexing, dental surgery, soft tissue procedures, and orthopaedic work all happen here. Drop your pet off in the morning, collect them the same afternoon. The clinic has two surgical theatres, anaesthetic monitoring equipment, and post-operative care facilities. For routine surgeries like desexing or dental work, there's no need to travel elsewhere. For complex cases, the vets consult with visiting specialists who operate on-site.Pricing published before you book
Consults from $98. Puppy vaccinations from $119. Cat desexing from $180. Dental with full X-rays from $670. Every service price is listed on the website. If additional work is needed during a visit, you'll receive a written estimate and a phone call before anything proceeds. No surprises.
Loved by the community, here in Monterey and everywhere else.
This was our first time attending here after moving into the area. We were finding our existing “chain-owned” vet practice too impersonal / not responsive / hard to get info from etc so wanted to try something new. We were relieved to find a vet practice that still has that personal/caring/human feel. Greeted by a lovely receptionist and given practical/pragmatic and objective advice by the fantastic vet (eg no sales tactics of us buying vet products from associated companies, like some of the vet chains). Highly recommend!
Treated my cat
It’s always a pleasure to visit this vet clinic. The vets, and reception people are always very polite and friendly. The clinic is always spotless.
Grateful to Dr Clarence Ng for everything you’ve done to Benson, our sixk boy
We recently moved to the St. George area and have been on a five-year quest to find a vet where our anxious German Shepherd, Mia, feels comfortable. Every vet visit was a stressful experience for all of us – Mia would pull on her leash and try to bolt out the door. That all changed at Ramsgate Vet. Jess, the receptionist, went above and beyond to make Mia feel relaxed and welcome. Her warm interactions with Mia, combined with the excellent consultation by Tiffany, the vet on duty, made a world of difference. For the first time in a long time, Mia was able to stay calmly in the foyer, on a loose leash! Thank you, Jess, for making our usually anxious girl feel relaxed and at ease. Your kindness and professionalism are greatly appreciated. We can't recommend Ramsgate Vet highly enough to anyone looking for an exceptional veterinary experience. They truly exceeded our expectations! Very satisfied, Alf and Mia
I received a quality service and I recommend it to everyone.

Excellent vet! Great team from the nurses to the Dr. Everyone was kind, happy to help and pleasant to talk to even over the phone. Dr. McMahon was very knowledged and explained everything during consultation with my dog Haldo. I have found my regular vet now!

They are amazing people.

Precisely what Monterey pet owners need
The clinic is closest to Monterey residents, which means walkability matters. For older pet owners who no longer drive, or for households without a second car during weekdays, being able to walk a dog to the vet or carry a cat carrier on foot removes a logistical barrier. It's practical infrastructure, not a marketing point. The clinic also sees a lot of multi-pet households. Families with two dogs or a dog and a cat often book consecutive appointments or bring both at once. The vets here are used to managing sibling dynamics and coordinating treatment plans across pets who live together. They know which vaccines can be done on the same day, which medications interact, and how to schedule follow-ups efficiently when you're juggling more than one animal.
