Ramsgate Vet is the closest veterinary hospital to Monterey, located just over a kilometre away at 231 Rocky Point Road. For Monterey pet owners, that means specialist-level care is genuinely around the corner — no long drives, no unfamiliar clinics, no compromise on quality. Monterey is a quiet, predominantly residential suburb sitting between Scarborough Park and the shores of Botany Bay, with a strong community of families and long-term locals who take their pets seriously. Our clinic offers everything from puppy vaccinations and annual health checks through to soft tissue surgery, dental care, laser therapy, and emergency consultations — all delivered by an experienced, compassionate team that takes the time to get to know your pet. Whether you have a dog who loves the beach or a cat who rarely leaves the couch, Ramsgate Vet is your local vet hospital for life.

Why Ramsgate Vet?

  • Monterey's closest full-service veterinary hospital

At just over a kilometre from central Monterey, Ramsgate Vet is the most convenient full-service vet clinic available to local pet owners. There's no need to travel to Kogarah or beyond for quality care — our clinic handles everything from routine preventative appointments through to complex surgical procedures and advanced diagnostics. We're open Monday to Friday from 7:30am to 8pm, Saturdays from 10am to 4pm, and offer emergency consultations on Sundays from 10am to 12pm.

  • A team with genuine depth and specialist skills

Behind every consultation at Ramsgate Vet is a team of six experienced veterinarians with a broad range of clinical expertise. Dr Nima Rahmani has been practising since 2004 and leads the team with particular strength in complex medicine, orthopaedic and soft tissue surgery, and emergency care. Dr Clarence Ng holds a Graduate Certificate in Small Animal Ultrasound from the University of Melbourne and has specialist interests in radiology and oncology. Dr Marnie Flick brings a background in equine sports medicine and published research in biomarkers. Whatever your pet's needs, there's a vet on our team who has seen it before.

  • Comprehensive care under one roof

Monterey pet owners have access to the full spectrum of veterinary services at Ramsgate Vet — including in-house blood testing with same-day results, dental care under anaesthesia, pet laser therapy for pain and inflammation, orthopaedic surgery for joint and bone conditions, X-rays and ultrasound, and visiting specialist consultations for complex cases. Our cat-exclusive cattery, located above the main clinic and supervised by veterinary staff, also offers safe and calm boarding when you travel.

  • Unhurried, family-run care with transparent pricing

Ramsgate Vet was founded by Dr Nima Rahmani with a straightforward philosophy: treat every pet with the same care and respect you'd want for your own. That means appointments that never feel rushed, written treatment estimates before any procedure begins, flexible payment options for unexpected costs, and a team that communicates clearly every step of the way. We also offer fear-free handling techniques and calming aids for anxious pets, so even nervous visitors can have a positive experience at the clinic.

The team are friendly, professional and competent. My puppy has visited twice and loves the vets as he gets treats, cuddles and lots of scratches. They prioritise care in a safe and friendly environment for the animals. The reception team are efficient, proactive and super friendly. Everyone here loves animals and it shows.

I would recommend this vet to anyone looking for a place to take your pet your pet would be well taken care of. The staff are helpful and friendly. They also have a clinic in Surry Hills. They are helpful in every way they can be. My dog went for surgery and he was treated with care. They are in contact with you letting you know each step of the way. The facilities are clean and inviting. If you are looking to take your pet somewhere I would highly recommend Ramsgate veterinary hospital.

Such an amazing team! From reception to the nurses, to the vets - I don't have a bad word to say. I've been waiting to find a place that you walk into where you feel like they love your fur baby as much as you do and this is the place! Really amazing team of people!

Our beautiful little dog was hit by a car last Friday, The team at Ramsgate vet including Jess and Clarence did everything they could for our little boy as soon as he arrived to them. They went over and above to try and help him and save his life. Unfortunately we did end up losing our little one and we are absolutely heartbroken by this sudden loss. The team has continued to offer us all of the support we need during this grieving process. We will be forever grateful for them for doing everything they could. They are a team with heart and they truly care about pets and their owners. Thank you endlessly to the team 🤍

This was our first time attending here after moving into the area. We were finding our existing “chain-owned” vet practice too impersonal / not responsive / hard to get info from etc so wanted to try something new. We were relieved to find a vet practice that still has that personal/caring/human feel. Greeted by a lovely receptionist and given practical/pragmatic and objective advice by the fantastic vet (eg no sales tactics of us buying vet products from associated companies, like some of the vet chains). Highly recommend!
