Cats stay indoors in apartments near the station.
When pets get sick or injured, owners need access that fits shift work and long commute schedules. Ramsgate Veterinary Hospital is 2km from Rockdale Station, about 10 minutes by bus or 5 minutes by car down Rocky Point Road. The clinic stays open till 7pm on weekdays to accommodate people finishing work in the city or working late shifts locally. It runs puppy school on weekends, stocks pet supplies in the retail hub, and handles everything from routine vaccinations to emergency stabilisation under one roof.
Rockdale pet owners will appreciate
Open till 7pm weekdays
For Rockdale residents finishing work at 6pm or commuting back from the city, standard vet hours don't work. The clinic closes at 7pm Monday through Friday, which gives you time to collect your pet after work, bring them in for an evening appointment, or pick up medication before heading home. Saturday appointments run till 4pm. Sunday mornings are reserved for emergencies only.Puppy school on-site
The clinic runs puppy school for dogs aged 8 to 16 weeks. Classes cover socialisation, basic commands, toilet training, and handling common puppy behaviour issues like mouthing and jumping. The sessions run on weekends, taught by the clinic's nurses in a controlled environment where all attending puppies are up to date on vaccinations. It's convenient for Rockdale's young families and first-time dog owners who need structured guidance early.Retail hub stocked with essentials
The clinic stocks pet food, flea and tick treatments, dental chews, toys, leads, and medications. When your dog needs prescription food or your cat's flea treatment is due, you can pick it up during the same visit as a consultation. The retail hub saves a separate trip to a pet store, which matters when you're juggling work, commuting, and errands across a busy week.Laser therapy for pain and inflammation
The clinic offers low-level laser therapy for dogs and cats with arthritis, post-surgical inflammation, wound healing, and chronic pain. The treatment is non-invasive, takes 10 to 15 minutes per session, and is often used alongside medication to manage pain without increasing drug dosages. For Rockdale's older dogs managing mobility issues, this provides an additional treatment option that doesn't require anaesthesia or sedation.
Loved by the community, here in Rockdale and everywhere else.
The staff were caring and our pugs breathing problems sorted
Fabulous Vet Clinic. The staff are delightful, helpful and very skilled at their job. Would highly recommend.
This was our first time attending here after moving into the area. We were finding our existing “chain-owned” vet practice too impersonal / not responsive / hard to get info from etc so wanted to try something new. We were relieved to find a vet practice that still has that personal/caring/human feel. Greeted by a lovely receptionist and given practical/pragmatic and objective advice by the fantastic vet (eg no sales tactics of us buying vet products from associated companies, like some of the vet chains). Highly recommend!
Best vet experience! All the staff were so friendly and efficient. Can’t wait to be back.
I received a quality service and I recommend it to everyone.
I have recently moved to the area and needed to take my reactive little chihuahua to a new vet. RVH has been the first Vet we've gone to that's pointed out my little dogs heart problems. This team are all angels sent from heaven, I can't thank them enough for treating my boy with urgency and truly going above and beyond. After receiving quite confronting news regarding my dog during my first visit to RVH, these angels have shown nothing but kindness, empathy and compassion to my dog and I. My dogs primary care team has been Nurse Jess and Dr Marnie with v special mention to Dr Tiffany <3
Our beautiful little dog was hit by a car last Friday, The team at Ramsgate vet including Jess and Clarence did everything they could for our little boy as soon as he arrived to them. They went over and above to try and help him and save his life. Unfortunately we did end up losing our little one and we are absolutely heartbroken by this sudden loss. The team has continued to offer us all of the support we need during this grieving process. We will be forever grateful for them for doing everything they could. They are a team with heart and they truly care about pets and their owners. Thank you endlessly to the team 🤍
Such an amazing team! From reception to the nurses, to the vets - I don't have a bad word to say. I've been waiting to find a place that you walk into where you feel like they love your fur baby as much as you do and this is the place! Really amazing team of people!
They are amazing people.
Excellent Service by Gabby who warmly greeted and helped with everything required. Really professional, kind and loving service. I highly recommend this vet clinic ! 🐈 …
Excellent vet! Great team from the nurses to the Dr. Everyone was kind, happy to help and pleasant to talk to even over the phone. Dr. McMahon was very knowledged and explained everything during consultation with my dog Haldo. I have found my regular vet now!
Great practice All the staff were very friendly and extremely helpful The treatment that they recommend for my groodle has definitely helped him a lot and he is back to normal
Rockdale Pet owners, this is for you
The clinic also sees a lot of first-time pet owners navigating puppy raising or kitten care for the first time. Families who've recently moved to Australia and adopted a dog for their children. Households getting a cat for the first time. Young couples who've just moved in together and are figuring out how to split vet visits and pet expenses. The vets here don't assume prior knowledge. They explain vaccination schedules, desexing timelines, and parasite prevention from the ground up.Rockdale's apartment density also means the clinic handles a higher proportion of small dogs and indoor cats than suburbs with more houses and backyards. Maltese, Shih Tzus, Pomeranians, and French Bulldogs are common. Dental disease and obesity are recurring issues in small indoor dogs, which the vets flag during routine check-ups before they escalate into expensive problems.
