About Ramsgate Vet

Ramsgate Vet is a short drive south from Rockdale, located at 231 Rocky Point Road in Ramsgate — easily reached via the Princes Highway or Rocky Point Road in around 10 to 15 minutes. For Rockdale's large and diverse community of pet owners, our clinic offers something genuinely different: a full-service veterinary hospital with a multilingual team, unhurried appointments, transparent pricing, and specialist-level capability that goes well beyond what a standard local clinic can provide. Rockdale is one of the most densely populated and culturally diverse suburbs in Sydney's St George area, home to significant Nepali, Chinese, Macedonian, and Arabic-speaking communities alongside long-term local families. Our team includes Dr Clarence Ng, who is fully fluent in English, Cantonese, and Mandarin, making it easier for Rockdale's Chinese-speaking pet owners to communicate clearly and confidently about their animal's health. Whether you have a dog, cat, rabbit, or pocket pet, Ramsgate Vet provides the quality of care that Rockdale's community deserves — with the expertise to back it up.

Why Ramsgate Vet?

  • A full-service hospital worth the short drive south

Not every suburb has a veterinary hospital of Ramsgate Vet's calibre nearby. Rather than settling for the closest clinic, many Rockdale pet owners make the short trip to Ramsgate for access to a genuinely comprehensive range of services — including in-house blood testing with same-day results, pet laser therapy, soft tissue and orthopaedic surgery, dental care under anaesthesia, diagnostic imaging, and visiting specialist consultations. We're open Monday to Friday from 7:30am to 8pm and Saturdays from 10am to 4pm, making it easy to fit a visit around work and family commitments.

  • Multilingual care for Rockdale's diverse community

Rockdale is one of Sydney's most culturally diverse suburbs, and clear communication between pet owner and vet is essential for good outcomes. Dr Clarence Ng is fluent in English, Cantonese, and Mandarin, and brings specialist expertise in radiology, surgery, oncology, and ultrasonography — holding a Graduate Certificate in Small Animal Ultrasound from the University of Melbourne. For Rockdale's Chinese-speaking community, Dr Clarence offers both the clinical depth and the language confidence to make every consultation clear, comfortable, and thorough.

  • Experienced vets, broad expertise, one local clinic

Ramsgate Vet is led by Dr Nima Rahmani, who has been practising veterinary medicine since 2004 and brings deep experience in complex medicine, soft tissue and orthopaedic surgery, dentistry, and emergency care. Alongside him, our team of six veterinarians covers a wide range of specialist interests — from Dr Marnie Flick's background in equine sports medicine and published biomarker research, to Dr Tessa McMahon's expertise in small animal medicine and dentistry. Whatever your pet's condition, there is a vet on our team who has seen it before and knows what to do.

  • Transparent, family-run care with no hidden costs

At Ramsgate Vet, we believe pet owners should never be surprised by a bill. We always provide a written treatment estimate before any procedure begins, offer flexible payment options for unexpected costs, and take the time to explain every step of your pet's care plan clearly. Our clinic was founded with the same values that Dr Nima established at Vets on Crown in Surry Hills: genuine compassion, clinical excellence, and a deep respect for both the animals and the families we serve. Sunday emergency consultations are available from 10am to 12pm for urgent situations that can't wait.

I would recommend this vet to anyone looking for a place to take your pet your pet would be well taken care of. The staff are helpful and friendly. They also have a clinic in Surry Hills. They are helpful in every way they can be. My dog went for surgery and he was treated with care. They are in contact with you letting you know each step of the way. The facilities are clean and inviting. If you are looking to take your pet somewhere I would highly recommend Ramsgate veterinary hospital.

This was our first time attending here after moving into the area. We were finding our existing “chain-owned” vet practice too impersonal / not responsive / hard to get info from etc so wanted to try something new. We were relieved to find a vet practice that still has that personal/caring/human feel. Greeted by a lovely receptionist and given practical/pragmatic and objective advice by the fantastic vet (eg no sales tactics of us buying vet products from associated companies, like some of the vet chains). Highly recommend!

First time to this vet. From the friendly call to having an available appointment I was greeted at the practice by the vet nurse Tahlia. Dr Tiffany so lovely and attentive . Really felt at ease with her and caring disposition for my pug. I will be back in September. Well priced and the decor of the clinic is spacious.
